Way overdue – December album part 2

I finally finished my December album… and although we are already in the second half of January I still wanted to share. So, make yourself a cup of coffee (or tea), sit down and relax because there are a LOT of photos!!!

Somehow, I didn’t take photos of the days 10-12. If I won’t forget I’ll include those later.

The collage on the right page is created with Picasa, I saved it as a jpg file and printed it on photo paper.

For Christmas day, I set up my tripod so that I would be in some photos as well. Suzanne however, snatched my remote away and started taking photos of me WHILE EATING! Thanks sweetheart – very elegant. This whole series is horrific, but the last one cracks me up (see the photo on the far right end). My face is terrible, but take a good close look at Suzanne’s face! Ha! I love it!

CLAP CLAP CLAP – if you were brave enough to scroll all this way to the bottom!

Was this project a big amount of work? YES

Do I love the end result? YES

Would I jump on the wagon this year to make another december album? YES – DEFINITELY. It’s soooo worth it. The finished album is still sitting on my dining room table and not a day goes by or I see someone flipping through it. LOVE.

Bigs hugs – on to the next project. Ha!

Wrapping up another year!

Long time no see huh?! But I’m still alive and kicking – no worries. Last year I started my first December Daily/Journal Your Christmas and I failed miserably. I got sick around December 11th and it went on until the end of January. Let’s just say I wasn’t in the mood… the first 10 days are cool though! So cool, that I even considered starting one for this year… And after thinking it over, and simplifying things for myself, and putting the expectations away, I decided to participate again. I ordered the Studio Calico(www.studiocalico.com) December Daily kit and got to work. That is, when I had my assignment for Creatief met Foto’s out the door… 🙂

Here’s my album cover:

I covered the front and back with kraft cardstock and adhered (a very old scrap piece of) patterned paper on the spine. Then, I printed super large numbers in reverse on kraft cardstock and cut them out. I stitched along the edges and adhered them on my cover, slightly letting them overlap each other. For the title letters, I liked the font of these American Crafts Thickers, but their color green didn’t go with my color scheme so I altered them. I used Versamark ink and Zing embossing powder to change their color to white. I did two layers to make sure that the green was totally covered. An Ormolu flair button is the only embellishment on the spine. More than enough for me 🙂

Then, I created an intro page:

And now I’m in the flow of creating one double page a day, so that it’s doable for me. I read and re-read Ali Edward’s posts about December Daily, and keeping it simple. One story a day is more than nothing, right? So that’s what I decided to do.

In addition to the kit that I bought (which came with the album binder, page protectors, papers, embellishments and letters), I went through my stash and added stuff like papers (not necessarily Christmas related), letters and embellishments.

For today’s page, I have already taken a photo and printed it. You can see it underneath the 4-pocket page protector of Day 4. It’s about the weather and our leaking roof. Yes – you read it correctly. Our roof leaks. Big time. And the funniest part is, is that our bed is exactly IN THE MIDDLE of where the water comes down the ceiling… Hopefully it will be repaired today, because there is much more rain coming our way, according to the weather report. Help!

Second shooter

On October 1st, I did my second wedding as a second shooter. I felt more confident, way more prepared and it shows in my photos!

The bride and groom were lovely and very relaxed people. All details were beautiful. The weather was GORGEOUS and the location… WOW! It couldn’t have been any better! Here’s a little summary of the day:

I love, love, love photography…

Check this out!

Heehee… You know my bff www.revlie.typepad.com right?! She is organizing a scrapbooking event on March 10/11 2012 in Utrecht, the Netherlands and I can finally reveal the big secret I’ve been keeping: I will be teaching there!

Go and check out Revlie’s blog to see who the other teachers are! This will be so much fun and I’m thrilled to be a part of it! I hope to see you all there!

Some layouts

Wow. The old blog seems to be offline right now. It’s supposed to be exported but apparently something went wrong. I’m kind of hoping that the technical guys behind the scenes are able to retrieve all my data and posts. If not – I have to start from scratch! Booohoooo….

I’ve been busy these couple of weeks. I’m starting up my photography business, AND I’ve been accompanying Dennis to his new “job”. It’s a place where he will learn how to use Adobe InDesign & Photoshop, so that he can learn how to design business cards, letterheads, webpages and more. We are hoping that he can develop his career from that point, although it will be tough for him to get a “regular” job, being handicapped as severe as he is. Right now, we are in the process of getting everything in order for a safe environment for him, write protocols about medication (mind you, he has a bottle of morphine in his bag) and stuff like that. That’s why I’m there with him for now. We are hoping that, eventually, he’ll be able to go there for three days a week. Not wanting to be selfish here, but I’m really hoping that it will work out because that means some time for ME (muchos needed).

I have a couple of layouts to share today. I did more, but I can’t show yet because they are for a design team call I submitted to. I have my fingers crossed since I pressed the “send” button… need to hold onto that for at least another week! Yikes! How stressful is THAT? Anyway – here we go with what I can share right now:

That’s it for now… Thanks for visiting! (if anyone is still there…)

First post on the new blog…

Sooo… my “old” blog was hosted by web-log.nl. It was a free service from typepad and we got notice that it would stop somewhere in 2011. A good reason for me to start from scratch, right?

I’m working on importing all the stuff from my old blog, for now I haven’t succeeded but it should be possible. My bff Marsha (who also has a wordpress-blog but she is way more experienced than me) comes over on Thursday and I’m hoping she can help me out.

Please update your bookmarks, so you’ll be able to find me here. 🙂

Greetings!
